Fr. Gawargios Kolta
Father Gawargious Atalla Kolta was born on December 23, 1931. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry in 1954, a Master of Science Degree in Physical Chemistry in 1958, and a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry in 1962.
At Saint Mark Church in Shoubra, Egypt he served as Sunday School Teacher from 1954 to 1958 and was a Youth Leader from 1958 to 1981.
His ordination by His Holiness Pope Shenouda III was on March 15, 1981. On March 30, 1993, Fr. Gawargious was elevated by His Holiness to Arch-priest.
He served at Saint Georgeos & Saint Anthony Church in Cairo (Heliopolis), Egypt from 1981 to 1989. In 1989 H.H. Pope Shenouda III asked him to serve at Saint John Coptic Orthodox Church in Covina, California, U.S.A. Since then, Fr. Gawargios has been serving at St. John.
Fr. Augustinos Hanna
Father Augustinos Ragheb Hanna was born on February 19, 1935 as Maher Ragheb Hanna. He earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Law from the University of Cairo Law School in 1957. He practiced law in Egypt from 1957 – 1981.
He was nominated by the Coptic Church to represent it in Middle East Council of Churches and served therein as member from 1974 -1981. In his capacity as attorney, Mr. Hanna was the attorney of H.H. Pope Shenouda from 1976 – 1981. In 1978 he served as secretary of the Unified Christian Family Law Committee on behalf of all Christian denominations in Egypt and also was elected as member of the Coptic Orthodox Church Council (El Magless El Meli) of Cairo. In 1979 he was elected to the Legal committee of the National Democratic Party of Egypt where he served as member until 1981.
Throughout his professional legal career Mr. Maher Ragheb Hanna served God and gave his service the utmost priority. From 1978 to 1981 he taught Old Testament in the Coptic Seminary in Egypt. He served in many different churches all over Egypt and was youth leader of the college youth in St. George Coptic Orthodox Church in El Agouza, Cairo, Egypt. In 1981 he represented the Egyptian Bar Association in that year’s International Conference of Attorneys taking place in Manhattan, N.Y., U.S.A.
That same year Mr. Hanna and his family relocated to the U.S. to start a new life in America. On November 14, 1989, H.H. Pope Shenouda III ordained him Priest by the name of Fr. Augustinos. He has served at the Church of Saint John Coptic Orthodox Church in Covina, California, since then.
From 1990 – 1995 Fr. Augustinos taught Old Testament in Pope Shenouda III Coptic Orthodox Seminary in Los Angeles. Fr. Augustinos also began service at the Church of Saint Mary in Victorville, California, St. Anthony and St. Abanoub in Corona, California, as well as, St. Mark Coptic Church in Phoenix, Arizona.
Fr. Shenouda Ghattas
Father Shenouda Roshdy Ghattas was born in Egypt on August 8,1959. He came to California February 1978 at the age of 18. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from the California State University at Long Beach in 1983 in Electrical Engineering. He worked as an Electrical Engineer from 1983-1986 and served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher at St. Mark Church in Los Angeles for 10 years.
Holiness Pope Shenouda III ordained him a Presbyter on June 7, 1987 in Cairo. He served at St. Mary Church in Raleigh, North Carolina in 1987-1989, and at St. Abraham Church in Long Island, New York from 1989-1991 and at Archangel Michael Church in Ventura from 1991-2005.
Fr. Yohanna Maurice Youssef
Fr. Youhanna Maurice Youssef was born in Egypt on March 28, 1973.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communications in 1995 from the Ain Shams University and worked as an Engineer from 1995 to 2004.
He served as Deacon and Sunday School Teacher in Saint George Church in Heliopolis, Egypt 1995-2004. He was ordained presbyter by His Holiness Pope Shenouda III along with His Grace Bishop Serapion on October 13, 2004 to serve in the Diocese.
Fr. Daniel Habib
Fr. Daniel Wafik Habib was born in Warwick, NY and grew up in New Jersey. He attended St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Church in Jersey City, NJ and St. Antonious and St. Mina Coptic Orthodox Church in East Rutherford, NJ for most of his life.
He attended New York University and graduated with a B.A. in Philosophy. Following his undergraduate studies, he studied law and obtained his J.D. from American University’s Washington College of Law in DC. He practiced law in the States of New Jersey, New York and Hawai’i before working part-time in Boston, MA and attending Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology. At Holy Cross, he obtained a Masters in Theological Studies. Thereafter, he and his wife moved to Southern California and began serving under His Grace Bishop Serapion. On October 19, 2008 he was ordained a presbyter in St. John Coptic Orthodox Church at the hands of His Grace Bishop Serapion and His Eminence Metropolitan Hedra.
